The "Study and stay in Bavaria" initiative is a campaign launched jointly by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Bavarian Ministry of Sciences in cooperation with the Bavarian universities.

The initiative's primary aim is to keep international students studying at Bavarian institutions of higher education in Bavaria after they have completed their studies.

While many highly qualified students would like to remain in Bavaria after completing their studies, only a small portion of them are actually able to realise that wish: According to a current study by the Expert Council of German Foundations on Integration and Migration, some 80 per cent of doctoral and master students from non-EU states studying in Germany would like to live and work here. However, only about one-fourth of them are able to realise that aspiration.

We would like to:

  • Show and say to the international students directly that they are welcome in Bavaria, and that the State of Bavaria needs them
  • Provide concrete assistance jointly with experts regarding legal and residence matters
  • Listen to students, understand their problems and (subsequently) attempt to solve them mutually
